MY LIFE IS FUCKED UP SOMETIMES!

SO I have had a craptastic week. My computer froze and is in the "hospital" having reconstructive surgery.

My sweet baby boy (he's 16 but still my baby), left for Costa Rica, and due to some STUPIDITY OF THE FUCKING AMERICAN AIR LINES, he missed a connecting flight and the group/chaperone/ADULTS he was connecting with, and consequently spent 16 hours ALONE overnight at the Miami airport until he could fly out the next day. Worst case scenario come true for a Mother and the longest night of my entire life.

And because the universe likes to give me a shit patty and then stick a cherry on top of it....later that day I went to see Cory Branan at a dive bar in Boston. I love him. And I made shirts. And I walked across the street after 3 hours on the phone with my crying child to see him standing outside the bar smoking a cigarette. And he saw the shirt. And lost his mind over it. And TWEETED IT!!!!!!! And stood looking at it 

fovever and ever, and wanted to guess what each little icon was. And ASKED if he could hug me. And took

pics with us and signed our shirts and listened to me cry about my lost little boy. And said not to worry that someday it would just be a really cool adventure that that happened when he was 16. And promised to play my favorite song for me, and not only did he play it, but he said...and I'm quoting here..." So yeah, before I forget, Marianne made these (that's right he said my name at the show)...Marianne made these awesome T-shirts, on the front is said Hey so what, which I guess is her favorite song? I don't really think much of it, but  she likes it, and then on the back are all these little pictures like 32 of them or something and each one is a reference to one of my songs, like there's a magic 8 ball, and a lemon tree, and shit. I'm just so flattered and touched and I think it's one of the coolest things I've ever seen so I'm gonna play this song for her"

I got the phone call that he was safely in the custody of Ecology Project International and off to conserve the world for 10 days. 10 days of radio silence. I hate it. I will not get to talk to him again until his plane lands back in the states. WHY DID I AGREE TO THIS???? Next year he will be off to college and this will be my whole life...stress and worry and tears.

CORY!!!!! I still can't even believe that happened. I admit it WAS my master plan and all, the cool shirt that he MIGHT notice after the show if he hangs out and signs shit. THIS WAS SO MUCH MORE THAN THAT!!!

Oh, M! That is awful about A! I am so sorry you both had to go through that!! And I so hope that he's safe now, and that everything has calmed down, and that his whole trip goes okay. GOSH, that must have been AWFUL. ;________;

But how fun is the latter part of the story! That shirt you made! That's like the most gorgeous fan shirt EVER! I do not know this Cory Branan (I should look him up?) but what amazing shoutouts to you! YOU DESERVED IT.

Thank you, it was torture. To be so far away and be able to do nothing. BLAH! I hope he could let it go and enjoy the rest of the trip. We won't talk to him until he gets back to the states. I can't wait :)

Talk about the best and worst day ever:P I love Cory. I saw him open for Dashboard Confessial 2 years ago and LOVED HIM and was just "WHO WAS THAT GUY?" I love to make shirts but never have had someone just squee with glee over them like that!

I'm sorry about the ordeal with your son, but so glad the night ended on a high note for you! Not familiar with Cory Branan, but will have to remedy that. The clip you shared is lovely.

Thanks, it was harrowing. I have not quite emotionally recovered. I was so for sure you did know Cory Branan, he did an album with Jon Snodgrass that is amazing. I can't say enough about him... he was headed to Phili when he left here. Set the time machine for Thursday night!
