my ipod classic fell into my washing machine. The pant leg of a pair of jeans got wrapped around the
headphones and pulled it out of my hoodie pocket and into the water. It was in a hard Belkin case
but still got wet.

it popped the red x of doom. the screen went sorta wonky.

I followed all online directions for the possible salvage mission. It has been submersed in silica gel
for 3 days. Today I will see if I still have a pod.

I know you all can feel my pain, I'm sorry to inflict it on you.

UPDATE: It turned on. It said it needed to charge. I reset it. I watched a video.
The screen went black and said recharge again. So that's what it's doing.

Oh, god - I'm so sorry! However... well, once I dropped my iPod Classic into the toilet, and after three days of leaving it plugged into the wall to recharge/going at it with a hairdryer/crossing my fingers and swearing my soul to whatever god would take it... it worked again! So, don't give up hope. (But then, four months later, it died a tragic Death By Bowling Ball, and thus is no more. Which is probably not reassuring, huh?)

Plus, after giving it a few days to dry out, you can always try taking it to the Apple Store and telling them is "mysteriously malfunctioned", and see if they'll replace it for you ;-)

I have it plugged into the wall right now. I will give it ample time to charge itself up. *fingers crossed*. I am an eternal pessimist. I'm trying to look at it as an opportunity! Get a new pod (altho I will replace it identically down to the engraving), clean all my music up and add covers to podfic and get rid of all my accidental duplicate podbooks (which I can't delete cause I don't use itunes) *sigh*...yes, apple store next if this battery thing doesn't work ugh (it's 3 hours away)

My iPod Classic crapped out on me for no particular reason whatsoever. So, at least yours has an excuse, right? Now I have to make do with the 7 or so gigs of free space on my iPhone. And that's lagging now too, which means I get to shell out $200 for a new one soon even though I'm unemployed and should probably put that money in my savings account.

I feel your pain, sister. Seriously. I will keep my fingers crossed that your luck is better than mine. :)

uuggghhhh, I don't know how you do it??? I have some issues where this ipod thing is concerned. Those 160gigs are my lifeline. My porn lifeline!

thankfully all is looking well so far, and I'm quite relieved. I'm going to overkill it with the silica gel burial for the next couple of nights, but the commitment ceremony will go on as planned (see next post for that nonsense)
