With my nice shiny camera that shows all this crazy detail I made it my mission to pet portrait all of our animals yesterday... bonus dog singing video at the end...
This is Astro, he's a basset hound, he barks ALL the time, he's kind of the grumpy old man of the house. He's 9yrs and takes Prozac. It doesn't help. But he's really super cute when he sleeps, and no one, I mean NO ONE, will ever sneak into our house.

And this is Carlos, he's our goldendoodle, golden retriever/standard poodle...he's the pup, the baby, he's only 2yrs....and he's the sweetest sweetest boy. When we lost our golden, we brought Astro to see the puppies at the breeders, Astro acted like a psycho and barked and caused a scene and 5 puppies hid under the stairs and sweet Carlos just went up to Astro and stared, like "what is wrong with him", desperately tried to interact with him.
He chose us, he's kind of Astro's therapy dog, lol. (I'm pleased with this camera, he usually looks like a black blob)

and we have 4 kitties at the moment, we've had more, but we have a no more pet rule right now.
This is Angel, he's a stray we took in, he was found by our neighbor stuck up in a tree near our house, he came named, they thought he was a girl, but we kept it because we're Buffy fans so a boy Angel was fine with us. Angel posed like he was doing a photo shoot. He's a very amicable cat, likes to climb trees still (100$ a pop for the tree guy to climb up and rescue him, 4X!!), doing puzzles, and acting as a neck warmer. He's our prettyboy hipster cat.

and next is Igby, or as he is lovingly called in our house Pigby....he's a beast of a giant cat, part Maine Coon I'm sure, we've had him since his birth, He's the first born kitten of a past cat (RIP Daisy) and he's well loved here. He's about 12yrs or so. You can't tell in this pic but he has green eyes that practically put Jensen to shame. He didn't give a rat's ass about my photoshoot plans, but I did get Wendy to make him dance. He should have belonged to a little girl that wanted a cat to dress up and push around in a pram.

Onto Ilia, I know how old he is because he's named for Ilia Kulik the russian ice skater who won the gold in 1997...so do that math, ummmmm 18yrs. We call him Oscar the Grouch these days because his ideal life is to be left alone in a box to sleep all day or a bag of recycling or trash, we've also found him curled up asleep in his litter box. He's just old. He used to be an outdoor cat but this summer he went outside and fell asleep in the middle of our road. We don't let him out anymore. He used to be the big russian mob boss, the other cats would bring him mice and drop them at his feet. I'm afraid those days are over.

Lola or "Lolly" or "la-la" is our baby, well Wendy's baby, she's a stray too, she's this teenie tiny thing, like mini kitten size, I don't know why she never grew. She's kind of feral, like having a wild squirrel in the house, I can't pet her or pick her up, only Wendy, she'll sit on Wendy's shoulder, seriously, she's like a wild animal. She's strictly an indoor cat, as wild as she is, she's just so tiny, I can't imagine her fending off a coyote or something. Eeeeeek. She's also our ribbon eater, and the counter grazer, we call her "chicken" because she always seems to know when chicken comes out of the fridge to get cooked. It's uncanny. You can also see her club feet and many extra toes (it's a pretty common thing with cats around here)

Lastly and leastly is Frozen Eric...he's the goldfish. When Abe was in high school his friends used to go out and cause trouble late at night, sometimes they would leave remenants of their expeditions for Abe on our doorstep, railroad spikes, left over pizza, weird shit, I guess it's a boy thing, like a nonthreatening way to show affection. Why can't they just hug?. One night we woke up to a bag o goldfish. It was a cold night, there was frost. They named him Eric. You can put the pieces together. 6 years later, we still have that fish. Wendy puts him a jar and brings him to camp with us in the summer. I'm not kidding. He is a social fish? And the cats like to drink out of the big bowl, I've seen them nose to nose, it's strange.

that is the animal crazy in our house...as a bonus I give you Carlos and Astro joined together in song. Astro likes to sing, ALOT, we do it everday, as I'm always listening to music in the house and the second he hears me singing along he gets excited and starts up. He has favorites of course, loves classic power ballads, Taylor Swift fills him with glee, but first and formost let us not forget Happy Birthday. He starts barking and howling everytime someone even says the word birthday. Everyone in our life looks forward (of course they do) to the dog singing birthday call. Carlos has got on board with it and quite frankly he's just as good as Astro.
(I'm sorry that you have to listen to me as well, I really can't carry a tune)

Date: 2015-01-07 09:15 pm (UTC)Yes, Carlos is monkey see, monkey do, he never howls on his own, Astro must be doing it first and then he freaks alittle and sniffs at his mouth, like "is all that sound coming from there?" OK, I can do that. EVERY TIME.
What does Lily howl at? Of course she's a girl, she has manners, my boys do it like they're at a strip bar.

Date: 2015-01-07 09:30 pm (UTC)When I've taped her, when I go out she checks the room, goes and checks every corner, goes and sits on her chair by the window and looks out for a while, then she'll sit in the middle of the rug and put out the most pitiful howls, ever so quiet but with her head up and everything. Then she'll sit in the window until I get home, even if I'm gone for hours. The separation anxiety is getting better but oh god, the guilt knowing that she's doing that when I'm not there : (
It's really not manners, ...she nearly ate a guy who tried to pet her today. Even I was a bit freaked out : / Lady-like she is not xx
