spn J2 Big Bang ART POST

YAY!!! My first Big Bang art post EVER!!! So exciting. I was thrilled to be able to pick up this charming, lovely, dark story by i_o_r_h_a_e_l called A Little Bear and His Wolf. Jensen is an adorable troubled shifter bear and Jared is his concerned hot shifter wolf teacher and it reads to me like a J2 Grimms fairytale and how wonderful is that?

Never having done art before I wanted to just play to my strengths and do what I know. So I designed and stitched the title banner on linen and went for that fairytale feeling.

Then I decided to create these companion portraits, which I stitched in black, then watercolored, put on fabric backgrounds and added the text from i_o_r_h_a_e_l 's story. I had a great time working on these. I hope that shows.

I know everyone says, if only they had more time...lol...how true, there is a scene that involves cake that I would have started on next. Alas.
Thank you so much to the wonderful i_o_r_h_a_e_l , a perfect first writer for me who just let me go at it and was all in from the
beginning for whatever wacky thing I created :) ♥  And thank you to my sweetheart big_heart_june who gets my crazy messages and loves me anyway and to meus_venator who gave me the pep talk and hand holding I so desperately needed for my first foray out. And thank you everyone for inspiring me to just jump right in and have fun doing what I love and sharing it with you ♥

And now that I've posted, I can't wait to get started on the next project and catch up on some Big Bang fic...can you all believe I haven't read a single one yet. Geesh.

This art is amazing and I love it THE MOST! Bear Jensen looks so cuddly, I just want to cuddle him. I love the mixed media approach and you totally capture that fairy tale feeling. The title embroidery is just <3.

The mixed media thing was sort of a happy accident when I was trying to add text digitaly and I had that idea. It just worked I think♥

I made an actual "OH MY GOD!" squee at seeing this art. I love embroidery and t see it done as art is just pure brilliance.

And that you designed it yourself? It's amazing! Fantastic job here and you made me want to pick up one of my half-finished stitch or knitting projects again.

OH MY GOD!!! That title banner is amazing!!!! It perfectly gets that fairy-tale feel, and the stitching itself is just gorgeous!!! (I used to embroider and cross-stitch, but it's been a long time.) The other two pieces?? Also beautiful! I love how creative and imaginative you were making these, with the combination of watercolor, stitching, and fabric. Really lovely work!!!

Gorgeous stitches. What a great design. For some reason, the little stone path really caught my attention and is adorable. I love the way the bear is sitting in the second picture. All three are clever and creative and you've done lovely work.

that's funny, the stone path is a single strand of floss and so fine, I was afraid it wasn't going to show up or translate thru the photo.

the wolf and bear come from illustrations that I tweaked and turned into embroidery designs...when I stumbled across that sweet bear I knew he was the one :)

OMG I LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT Gives me total SHIVERS up my spines. It's GORGEOUS!!!!!!! I could totally see a children's book being done in this style. Or buy art panels of these.

THE BEARRRRRRRR Sitting all lonely on those crazy round dot pattern. And the Wolf all tilted eyes and pretty. And the main banner/book cover is so welcoming. I want to curl up and read this forever.
Such a great job and I love i_o_r_h_a_e_l's writing.

EEEEEEEEEEEEEE thank you SO FLIPPING MUCH!!! I am so stupidly pleased by the nice comments I've been getting.I cried when I got home today and saw my inbox.

The idea actually came because of this reissue that Penguin Books did of classics with stitched covers. I saw them, wanted the Wind in the Willows and *poof* a fandom bunny was born.

I haven't had a chance to read the fic yet, but I had to let you know how much I loved the art!! It is freaking awesome! It's such a great idea, and so brilliantly done. The affect you achieved is stunning! The title banner on linen is gorgeous; it looks like it belongs on an old book of fairytales and the two portraits are beautiful, I adore the colours in the backgrounds.

Print on paper, tear it, it will add shadows and dimension and be way cooler. Kind of a happy mistake;
