Finnius....my gentle giant.
Jul. 23rd, 2012 02:37 pmHome from 10 days out to camp. The weather was wonderful, the lake was lovely as always....I had a terrible time. Our golden of 13 yrs. had a swift decline. He had been limping for a couple of weeks and we were looking forward to him having less steps to climb out at camp and having some down time. After 5 days he was unable to get up anymore or stand without assistance. Wendy and I took him out to our AMAZING vet and on a beautiful sunny day laid out in the garden with him and said goodbye. I've lost many pets in my life and this was by far the hardest. He was a gentle giant of a dog and his presence is terribly missed at home by all of us especially our basset hound who was at the kennel at the time of his passing. He is missing his best friend and refuses to eat without him here.
In a strange "coincidence" my great aunt Hilda who was my grandmother's sister died in her sleep that same day at 92yrs. old.
